As soon as I woke up this morning, I had a choice – pick up my phone and check my Whatsapp or step outside for some time. The sun was just rising and I was basking in that sheer gold just standing in the kitchen. The world outside was beckoning to me!
So donning a warm shrug I stepped outside holding a cup of hot steaming coffee. With every sip the colors and sounds around me started coming to life – the bluest blue sky, blades of grass, the color of fresh limes, and even the sounds of Blue Jays, Cardinals and Sparrows!
Everything that the rays touched began to take a life of its own. Or was it just me? Energized by the morning’s ambience! Connecting to that unknown unseen energy that is bigger than our lives…..
This morning as I was packing the last sandwich into the lunch bag, my eyes fell on a glow outside.
I opened the blinds on the door and there it was, a pale crimson halo on the horizon against the dark silhouettes of the bare branches of Bradford pear trees.
Usually my next step would have been to reach out for my phone and click away, but I did not do any such thing. Instead I stepped out into the chilly dawn, plunging my hands deep into the pockets of my sweater to keep them warm as I looked upon the horizon and up at the sky.
There was Venus, shining so brightly as always in the dark blue sky above me. A feeling of deep calm engulfed me as I stood there in the coolness, watching a golden hue replacing the crimson. A plane flew by, its lights flickering and then everything turned quiet once more.
It was time to go back inside.
The sun was up and it was 17 degrees outside….brrrr. But I was not going to pass up such a brilliant morning just because! So I am glad I bundled up and braved the cold to bring you this pretty picture that sings Happy New Year!
