Still summer

Hello how’re you all doing? It’s been more than a while since I last posted anything here on WordPress! So here I am sharing something that I most love – my art!

Summery flowers in loose watercolor (my favorite style)

And here are closeups of some of them!

Wild pink poppies
Loosely painted pink peonies
And a pair of peachy roses

Have a lovely weekend😍

Sweet spot on Lake Tahoe

The other day I was browsing through some pictures from a vacation when I came across a few from Baldwin Beach, a quiet little beach on Lake Tahoe. There was this picturesque spot a little away from the beach and just before hitting the road. It seemed like a mini lake with ducks gently paddling away in the blue waters laced with tall grass waving in the summer breeze.

I just had to relive the moment, this time with watercolors!

Mini Landscapes

Here’s a collage of a few mini landscapes I’d been working on during the month of June. Whenever I felt inspired by a picture or memory, I would loosely paint a version of that. Sometimes I painted something out of my imagination!

This one was inspired by the memory of the warm waters of Key West, Florida.

I think I was thinking of the sun just about to rise and the soft rays bringing things to life….

The majestic El Capitan, Yosemite National Park, California of course!

By the morning light

I love painting by the window as the sunlight dances on my paper and paints. The dappled sunlight brings every flower to life. I love to see the water turning a deep shade of pink, yellow and lilac like the flowers on the page.

Apples

So this morning I positioned three Gala apples (my favorite) by a very sunny window to watercolor them. Sunday mornings are such a great time to paint. There is a certain air of ease, comfort… a space to create.

Here they are – Apples – to welcome October and to participate in the Doodlewash October Challenge.

Monday morning rush…

Is it time to wake up my kids? Do I have the breakfast ready? Oh, I need to make the to-do list for today! There’s that errand I have to run…..

And the list goes on and on. Or shall I say thoughts begin rolling in and out like the tides, but while the mind falls in a trance watching the waves and their nightcaps, it is thrown into a frenzy keeping up with the never ending train of thoughts!

I call this Rush and it’s not good at all except in the Rush Hour series. It’s bad like the sugar rush that thrusts us into a not-so-fun roller coaster ride. Maybe it’s not really our fault – our brains were wired to be on a fight or flight state – to be always ready to respond. But hey what is it we need to respond to? Flight schedules? Project deadlines? Appointments? Yes! they are in a way important for our existence but for our survival?? I guess not.

The message is simple – Stay in the now…

Coming back to Rush, it’s Monday morning, a new day and a new week. Ask yourself just one question “How am I feeling right NOW?” Listen to your answer…stay with it just for a bit. It’s enough to guide your day! You can ask it over and over again during the week.

Have a great week!!

Take a Break!

#worldwatercolormonth #Doodlewash

Take a break….not just on a Sunday, but everyday even if it’s only for a couple of minutes to a half hour – to stretch your back, breathe or even meditate.

It’s so easy to get mired in the complexities of day to day life, to wander away into the meandering paths of social media world, to get bogged down by worries real or imagined.

Take a break every now and then, whenever you can. Get grounded into a warrior pose. Close your eyes just for a few seconds and let those ocular muscles relax….just for a bit!

Sometimes…..

Love yourself

#worldwatercolormonth

Put yourself first

Take care of your body. Be mindful of what you eat.

Guard your mind. Surround yourself with positive and uplifting folks.

Nurture your spirit. Carve out a special hour or more for yourself each day to pursue a hobby. Soothe your soul with a cup of tea as you watch the sun rise. Hum your favorite songs.

Spend some time under the sun. Breathe.

Meditate
